In November 2022,I will be presenting a workshop for Gr. 4–12 teachers, (and "–Pre-Service" Students), administrators, social workers, and other Child Study Team members… anyone who has ever had his or her classroom disrupted by one student (or more) or… for anyone working with difficult, defiant, unmotivated, or emotionally disturbed children in regular or special education classes. This workshop is focused on classroom strategies that really make a difference. This is an amazing course packed with practical strategies that teachers can implement on the very next day at school.

My name is Mark Richman, and I have been in education for over 48 years as a math teacher, Dean of Discipline, and Assistant Principal. I have won numerous awards for my teaching skills, among them "Teacher of the Year." I was a camp counselor for 20 years at Trails End Camp, in Honesdale, PA, where I further used my talents to work with children in the summer camp situation. I am the author of four best-selling books on classroom management, motivation, and values education (including Just Let Me Survive Today... A Primer in Classroom Management and Motivation).

After teaching for 19 years at JHS 43 and another 5 at Lincoln HS, both in Brooklyn, NY, I headed the Guidance and Math Departments at Erasmus Hall HS for Science and Math, also in Brooklyn, N.Y. I then served 3 years as a staff developer in the Brooklyn and Staten Island Schools (in NYC). I taught for another term at Automotive HS in Brooklyn NY before returning once again to administrative chores at The HS of Economics and Finance in NYC (right across the street from the World Trade Center) where on September 11, 2001, my 4th day on the job at my new school, I helped evacuate and lead his 800 pupils to safety! After teaching for two more years at Port Richmond HS, in Staten Island, NY, I retired from the NYC Public Schools. I am now in my seventeenth year as a math teacher (in my “second career”) at Columbia HS in Maplewood, NJ.
